This is the time of the year where most of us start preparing our "New Year's Resolution". Many plans, bringing on new good habits, erasing the not so good ones... new perspectives, new projects, new dreams. It is an awesome and energising feeling.
However... It is known that the majority of people "will have broken their promise" by January 15th... not so motivating... right?
An old adage says that "people overestimate what they can do in one year and under estimate what they can do in three."
About one year ago I decided to follow it and made a three year plan. Next 2017 will be my second year within my original plan and I can honestly say to you, "so far, so good". In fact I have (over)achieved the goals for 2016, due to the fact that last May I added an extra boost to it by embracing a 2 year mentoring program which is already showing results.
I am convinced that the only way forward is through creating a solid base, a strong foundation. And those are built by investing in one self. At the end of the day, you are your sole pillar. Therefore, you can only stand tall if you are built upon strong and sustainable materials. And, building one's pillar and axis takes time, commitment and planning.
I also believe that by sharing our journey we can support others. And this is why I'm often here sharing with you some stories, my personal experiences, my observations of what happens in my surroundings, what I find inspiring, what I've learned, what has helped to take a step further, anything I find inspiring which I hope can motivate and inspire you too.
Life IS too short! And, it is much more enjoyable and fun when we have a bunch of awesome people around us. I have to say that I am very fortunate and blessed to have developed a community of over 2000 people in the past couple of years, from Europe to South America, from USA to Asia. A community in which synergies and collaborations have been developed at many levels, directly and indirectly.
Early this year I heard something very wise - "people bond to people!" This statement touched my heart deeply and confirms what I believe and try to have present in my life in a daily basis. And, based on that I say to you, "Don't isolate yourself".
Go out! Reach out! That great idea that you have will only evolve if you share it with others. Welcome feedback and constructive criticism. If the criticism is not constructive, move on. Don't take it personally. Nothing is really personal. Don't take yourself too serious. The important thing is not how many times you fall, the important thing is how fast you get up and continue with your journey!
I invite you to make your three year list. Do it! Don't sell yourself short. Make big plans. Envision where you want to be at the end of those three years. "It is not about the resources your have, it is about how resourceful you are and become." (You probably heard this one before) Above all, always, always invest in yourself, build strong pillars. You are your most important asset! And go out there and share, share, share... it is the only way to truly embrace knowledge and growth. However, always have in mind, be patient; everything takes its time to blossom.
I leave here with you something very special. You will find below three videos which contain lessons which I believe are the foundation to build a strong, sustainable and successful life at all levels. I hope they inspire you, and, of course, give you some good laughs!
Let's talk again in 2017!
And remember, life is about welcoming the Good, the Bad and the Ugly!
